Many municipalities have FISs, Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM)s, & Flood Boundary - Floodway Maps (FBFM)s which are ten to fifteen years old and in desperate need of updating and replacement. While FEMA has a 5 year review plan for review of the need to update existing studies and mapping, they often do not have adequate input to justify a restudy in a particular community. A restudy recommendation report not only provides information on the areas requiring restudy but also provides adequate justification. While FEMA has a 5 year review plan for review of the need to update existing studies and mapping, they often do not have adequate input to justify a restudy in a particular community. A restudy recommendation report not only provides information on the areas requiring restudy but also provides adequate justification.
Accordingly, Knapp Associates recommends the preparation and submission of a detailed Restudy Recommendation Report documenting:
Required corrections to existing study and mapping based upon hydrologic and/or hydraulic changes.
Corrections to community information including corporate boundary changes.
Streams and reaches requiring restudy, emphasis on unstudied areas (A Zones).
Maps, photos and other information supporting and justifying the restudy.
Municipal priority for recommended work.
